About this work
A watercolor study of a Winesap apple branch shows green serrated leaves, pink-tinged blossoms with yellow stamens, and a brown stem. Handwritten notes below the image record frost injury on May 11, 1906 and the condition days later. The work is signed by Ellen Isham Schutt and dated 1906, part of the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
