About this work

This watercolor on paper shows two apples rendered side by side, the upper one yellow-green with red striping and the lower one a solid deep red. Handwritten labels identify the cultivar Sutton, with one marked for immediate storage and the other for delayed storage, and a signature with the date 1905 appears at lower right. The work is attributed to Ellen Isham Schutt in the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
