About this work
A watercolor study on cream paper shows a red apple with yellow speckles seen whole above, and a sliced half below revealing pale flesh, a core outline and dark brown seeds. Handwritten inscriptions give the variety name Salome, the grower D. H. Funk of Boyertown, Pa. and dates of November 21, 1911 and January 2, 1912, attributed to Amanda Almira Newton, 1912.
