About this work

A watercolor study shows two halves of a red-skinned apple, one cut through the middle and the other cut from the stem end, with the seeds, core and stem clearly rendered. Handwritten inscriptions with an inventory number, the variety name Red Juneating, and a locality in North Carolina appear at the lower left, with the artist's signature and dates at the lower right.
