About this work
This watercolor shows two halved apples, labeled a and b, rendered in pale yellow flesh with red skin edges and brown shading around the core and seeds. The stems and seed cavities are carefully detailed to document the fruit's internal structure. The work is attributed to J. Marion Shull and dated 1910 in the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
