About this work
A watercolor study of an apple shown whole and as a halved cross-section, with the core and seeds visible in the cut fruit. The red and green skin is rendered with soft gradients and a cast shadow beneath each specimen. The sheet carries handwritten variety and collection notes and a date of 1906, attributed to Deborah Griscom Passmore in the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection.
