About this work
A standing woman in traditional Sunday dress turns to the left, wearing a blue bonnet, a gold-embroidered bodice, a white skirt and apron, and white gloves. The drawing is executed in pencil with colored washes on cream paper and carries a handwritten inscription dated August 1841 identifying the sitter's village in Oberhessen. It is by Jakob Fürchtegott Dielmann.
