About this work
This pen and brown ink drawing with brown wash shows a king seated on a raised throne beneath a draped canopy, while a soldier raises a sword over a baby held by a kneeling woman. A crowd of onlookers and attendants fills the columned hall. The work is attributed to Giovanni da San Giovanni and is held by the Städel Museum under the title Solomon's verdict.
