About this work
A brown ink and wash drawing shows the Virgin Mary seated at the center of a group of apostles in an arched interior, with a dove of the Holy Spirit descending from above. Several figures raise their arms in reaction while others sit in attentive poses. This drawing by Parmigianino, dated 1526, is held in the Städel Museum.
