About this work
A winter scene shows skaters and onlookers on a frozen canal beneath a stone arch bridge, where a horse-drawn cart crosses. Bare trees frame a row of village houses and a distant church spire, with figures gathered at a stall on the ice. The drawing is by Abraham Teerlink, dated 1798, and is held by the Städel Museum.
