About this work

A pencil and watercolor drawing shows a horse and cart waiting beside a stone town wall and a wooden gate, while a woman tends plants on the wall's grassy top. A timber-framed house and a thatched structure frame the scene, which is dated 19 September 1840 in the inscription at lower right. The work is by Jakob Fürchtegott Dielmann and is held by the Städel Museum.
