About this work

A graphite study on cream paper shows a seated female figure from the shoulders down, focusing on the arms and hands resting on the lap. The hands and folds of the garment are rendered in more detail than the faintly sketched torso and head. This drawing by Otto Scholderer dates from 1879 and is held by the Städel Museum.
