About this work

A pencil drawing on textured paper shows a young child in profile with eyes closed, head resting against a pillow or cloth, and a small hand raised near the face. Loose construction lines and sketched drapery surround the figure, and the inscription 'Sept. 81' appears in the lower right corner. The sheet is Otto Scholderer's 1881 study of Victor Scholderer as a sleeping toddler, held by the Städel Museum.
