About this work
Two sailing vessels lie side by side on calm water, with crew members working on deck while one hoists its sail. Further out, several ships are visible on the water, and a small village with a church tower sits on the shoreline at left. This drawing is by Nicolaas Wicart and is held by the Städel Museum.
