About this work

A winged male figure in dynamic motion carries a nude female figure across the sheet, rendered in brown ink wash with red chalk underdrawing. Loose blue pencil lines and drapery swirling behind the figures suggest a compositional study. This drawing by Gabriel François Doyen is held by the Städel Museum and relates to the myth of the abduction of Oreithyia by Boreas.
