About this work
This pencil drawing by Ernst Fries shows a narrow street in Papigno, near Terni, with stone archways, stairs, and weathered houses with tiled roofs. A hilltop structure appears in the distance behind the buildings. The sheet is dated 12 May 1826 in the inscription at lower left.
