About this work

A pale watercolor and pencil drawing shows a domed mosque with a slender minaret rising above a hillside, with clusters of low buildings and red-tiled roofs spread along the slope. Cypress trees and green shrubs fill the foreground, and faint mountains recede on the left under a light sky. The inscription on the sheet identifies the building as the Mosque of Sultan Bajazid I/derim in Brusa, and the work is attributed to Miner Kilbourne Kellogg.
