A pen and ink drawing shows an elderly man in a knitted cap and loose coat seated on a wooden chair beside a table, holding a cup and gazing downward. Wooden clogs rest on the floor, and a large stove stands at the right beside a walking cane. Handwritten Dutch text beneath the image identifies the sitter and the village of Oosterbeek, and the sheet is signed and dated 1864 by Alexander Ver Huell.
