About this work
A circular design for a gilded enamel plate, shown in watercolor with a central crowned monogram of interlaced letters framed by bands of red, blue, yellow and orange. A pencil cross-section and handwritten Dutch notes list the color codes and specify which areas are transparent enamel. Carel Adolph Lion Cachet made this drawing in 1874, and it is held by the Rijksmuseum.
