About this work
A pencil design for a title page of Van den Vos Reinaerde, drawn by Bernard Willem Wierink in 1866. A seated lion, flanked by other animals, presides over a frieze of gathered animals, above the lettering 'Dit is het boek van den Vos Reinaerde' and a fox head in a roundel. Grid lines and handwritten measurements in the margin indicate the planning of the layout.
