About this work
This woodcut shows a male torso and raised arm in lateral view, with the musculature rendered in dense, flowing parallel black and white lines. The figure is cropped at the head and the right edge, focusing attention on the anatomy of the side and arm. Reijer Stolk made this print in 1906, and it is held by the Rijksmuseum as an anatomical study of the muscles of the side and arm.
