An etching titled Vlucht naar Egypte by Lodewijk Schelfhout, dated 1930, shows a haloed woman in a striped headscarf and cloak riding a donkey through a stylized Mediterranean landscape. Palm and olive trees, agave plants, cypresses and an arched bridge frame the scene, with banded hills and mountains beyond. The fine hatched lines and stylized forms give the composition a crisp, graphic character.
