About this work
This engraved portrait, titled Portret van Cornelis van der Geest and dated 1616, shows a bearded man in a dark buttoned doublet, a large pleated ruff, and a light cloak, with his hands clasped at his waist. He turns his head to the side and looks past the viewer against a densely hatched background. The print is by Paulus Pontius after a painting by Anthony van Dyck, as noted in the lettering below the image, and is held in the Rijksmuseum.
