About this work
A lithographic portrait in soft tonal shading shows a young toddler with curly hair, large dark eyes, and bare shoulders partly covered by a white garment, leaning slightly to one side. The print is titled Portret van een peuter, made by Bernard Romain Julien in 1848 and held by the Rijksmuseum. The French caption indicates it is an étude aux deux crayons after Mme Brune, printed in Paris.
