About this work
An oil study in loose, visible brushwork shows a young boy in a white skullcap and a pale sleeveless tunic, turning his head toward the viewer with a serious, sidelong expression. The dense green foliage behind him is rendered in quick strokes, and the warm skin tones are modeled against the cool shadows of the tunic.
