About this work
A seated woman in a blue satin gown and gold velvet wrap holds a wine glass while resting her hand on a lute, beside a table laden with oysters and a bottle. A man in a red velvet cap pours wine as a servant in a blue turban holds a tray in the archway behind, and two small dogs sit on the floor. Willem van Mieris painted this interior scene in 1710, and it is held by the Royal Collection.
