About this work
A hunting party returns along a sandy forest track, with riders on horseback and a group of hunters on foot leading a pack of hunting dogs. Pine trees and a rocky slope frame the scene under a pale blue sky, and a woman in a red dress rides a white horse at the right. The painting is signed and dated 1884 by Alexander Rudolf Grünenwald and is held by the Royal Collection.
