About this work
This oil portrait shows a seated man with powdered white hair wearing a red military coat with green facings, a gold epaulette, and a star-shaped order badge on his chest. He rests one arm on the hilt of a sword and gazes toward the viewer against a dark background. Anton Graff painted this work in 1770, and it is held in the Royal Collection.
