About this work
A young woman in a red velvet jacket with white fur trim leans out of an open window, holding a bunch of grapes and smiling toward the viewer. Trailing grapevines with leaves and fruit frame the window, and a carved stone arch with putti and a central emblem sits above it. The painting is by Gerrit Dou, dated 1650, and is held by the Royal Collection.
