About this work
A rural scene shows a half-timbered house with a red-tiled roof beside a dirt road, while a small sawmill with a red roof and a water wheel stands across a stream under a broad tree. Wooded hills rise behind the buildings beneath a sky of scattered white clouds. Georg Saal painted this work in 1855, and it is held by the Royal Collection.
