About this work
A rural scene shows a cow and a dog on a dirt path before a thatched farmhouse with ivy on its walls. A well-dressed man in a wide-brimmed hat and cloak gestures toward an older peasant couple, while a child sits beside a brass pot and women look out from a doorway. Cattle and a figure with a walking stick are visible across the open landscape beyond. The work is by Edmond Jean-Baptiste Tschaggeny, dated 1845, and held in the Royal Collection.
