A broad river view of a busy dockyard shows tall-masted ships at anchor, a large hulled vessel under construction on scaffolding at right, and several gilded barges and rowing boats carrying groups of figures across the water. Dark storm clouds gather over the scene, and a distant skyline of buildings and a church spire closes the view. This painting by Richard Paton, dated 1770, is held in the Royal Collection.
