About this work

This album leaf, titled Scholar and Plum Tree and attributed to Ma Yuan, shows bare plum branches reaching across a misty landscape toward a small pavilion at the right edge. A distant mountain rises at the left above a wooden bridge, rendered in muted brown ink and silk tones. The facing leaf carries a column of calligraphy with a red seal, and a vertical label bears the artist's name.
