A sunlit village street runs diagonally across the canvas, its pale ground divided by a deep cast shadow from the trees at left. Whitewashed and stone buildings line the right edge, with worn stone steps leading to a doorway and an arched opening beneath foliage. Arthur Wesley Dow's painting "Rue Abbes Tanguy, Pont Aven" dates from 1886 and is held by the Princeton University Art Museum.
