About this work
A full-length portrait of a standing man in a black suit wearing a blue, white and red sash and several orders of merit on his chest. He rests one hand on a carved red upholstered armchair and holds a handwritten document, while a stack of papers and a quill sit on a carved wooden desk beside a red drape and a window. This oil painting by Vicente López Portaña, dated 1850, is held by the Museo del Prado.
