About this work
This painting depicts the betrayal of Christ, with a bearded man in a blue garment embracing and kissing a figure with downcast eyes while armored soldiers with spears and halberds close in from the left. A man in orange drapery raises a blade at the right, and a crouching figure lies in the foreground. The work is by Luca Giordano, dated 1655, and is held by the Museo del Prado.
