About this work
This pencil drawing with blue colour accents is split into two panels showing a couple in different moods. The upper panel shows a man in a hat embracing a woman by a fence with a tree and distant landscape, while the lower panel shows the pair seated closely together beside a bundled load. The handwritten French captions beneath each panel carry the satirical dialogue. The work is dated 1905 and is held by the Petit Palais, Paris.
