About this work
A colorful French advertising poster for the Fête des Tuileries and the Théâtre Cirque Miniature under director F. Corvi, dated 1888. A ringmaster in a blue tailcoat stands at the right while an oval inset shows trained monkeys dining at a table, a donkey, a horse with a monkey rider, a goat, and dogs performing on drums and balls. The poster advertises daily performances at 4, 5, 8 and 10 in the evening.
