About this work
A colorful French theatre poster advertising the drama Devant l'Ennemi in five acts and six tableaux by Paul Charton, presented at the Théâtre de Grenelle. The composition combines a large central figure of a soldier in a dark blue uniform with framed scenes of an elegant interior, a military skirmish, an explosion, and a group of fallen figures. The work is dated 1890 and is attributed to an anonymous French artist of the nineteenth century.
