About this work

A colourful French theatre poster advertising the Eden-Théâtre on Rue Auber near the Opéra, with a dancer in a white tutu mid-leap beside a clown and a crowned figure in red costume. A theatre interior with a stage and audience appears in the lower left, and the text lists nightly performances at 8:30, ballets, féeries and pantomimes for an entrance fee of 3 francs. Dated 1889, the work is attributed to an anonymous French artist of the 19th century.
