About this work
A chromolithographic cartoon shows a red-sailed galley labeled "Government of, by, and for the People" steering past a rocky shore. On the rocks, caricatured politicians with bird-like wings and party placards, including one reading "Party Loyalty," call out to the crew, while wrecked vessels and a banner reading "Boss Rule" lie among the breakers.
