About this work
A colored caricature shows a crowded Gothic church interior with a bishop-like figure in a mitre and red vestments gesturing from a wooden pulpit. Caricatured clergy and a man in a dark coat press toward the pulpit, while a stained glass window behind shows a glowing robed figure with a halo labeled "Our Thomas." The pulpit bears ribbons reading "Jeffersonian Simplicity," and a small figure stands before the pews. Udo Keppler created this print in 1905.
