About this work
A colored lithograph in caricature style shows a bearded man in a dark suit and striped trousers, wearing a sash reading "German-American," casting a ballot beside a glass ballot box draped in an American flag. Behind him, oval portraits of McKinley and Roosevelt flank a heraldic eagle, while two figures struggle over a banner labeled "Naturalization." The print is titled "The real German-American" and was made by Udo Keppler in 1900.
