About this work
A colour lithographic cartoon shows an oversized, smiling businessman in a top hat and tailcoat, smoking a cigar and wearing a sash labelled Railroad Interests, sitting astride a rocky cut. Below, a small worker in overalls and a cap leans on a pickaxe and looks up at him while crowds labour around a steam shovel in the excavation. The print is attributed to Udo Keppler and dated 1905.
