About this work
A colored political cartoon shows a large gray elephant walking along a path labeled "The Old Rut," with a group of men riding on its back. A man in a top hat, labeled Taft, strains to push the elephant's hindquarters, while the mud beneath is marked with the ruts of the old path. The print is signed by Udo Keppler and dated 1909.
