About this work
A satirical lithograph shows a political boss in a plaid suit and a top-hatted figure of special privilege leaning over a judicial bench. The judge, a small figure seated between them, signs a document labeled dictated decision, while blank injunctions are piled nearby. A banner reading Remember Thy Creator hangs in a classical columned courtroom beneath a statue of Justice. Udo Keppler's 1908 print, The kept judge, is a critique of corruption in the courts.
