About this work

A hand-colored lithograph shows a robed figure tending to a prostrate man in red garments on a rocky hillside, while a donkey and two travelers walk nearby under a pale sky. The bound figure bears labels reading "Direct Relief" and "Consumer," and the scene is rendered in soft, layered color. Udo Keppler produced this print in 1912 and it is titled "The good samaritan."
