About this work
A chromolithographic political cartoon titled Poor Spain! by Udo Keppler, dated 1898. A large caricatured figure labeled Cuban Molosses shouts and reaches over a map of the island, while a fleet of steamships with Spanish flags sails across the sea. In the lower right, a dejected seated monarch sits beside an open chest, a sword, and piles of papers labeled debts.
