About this work
A colour lithographic caricature shows a row of exaggerated male figures in formal dress singing from sheet music, labelled with name ribbons, while a woman in a white gown and blue sash, wearing a Phrygian-style cap, stands beside an American flag. A small child-like conductor leads from a podium before a cheering audience, with The Star Spangled Banner printed on the music stand. The print is titled Peace jubilee of the American union glee club, by Udo Keppler, dated 1896.
