About this work
This color political cartoon shows a caricatured Abraham Lincoln, labeled LINCOLN on his shaggy brown coat, peering down at a small green frog labeled ROOSEVELT that is perched on a log marked PROGRESSIVE in a pond. The frog's bulging white body and the words PRACTICAL POLITICS written on the water suggest the satirical theme. The scene is set in a grassy field beneath a dramatic, cloud-filled sky, and the work was created by Udo Keppler in 1912.
